This past week, the Yellow Pages Association made a big deal out of the purchase of a domain name,, that they redirected to print yellow pages directory contact information.

The Yellow Pages Association press release stated:

The Yellow Pages industry’s two leading associations announced today the launch of to help consumers choose which print directories they want delivered to their door steps.

So that’s their mid-August news. But check this out from way back in January 2009:

As far as I can tell, nothing has been done by the Yellow Pages Association to cut down on the number of unwanted yellow pages printed, distributed, then wastefully recycled or trashed between January of 2009 and August 2009. It’s been clear for a while that the Yellow Pages Association moves slowly, but taking 7 months to craft a press release to announce the purchase of a domain name goes beyond my already low expectations.

Perhaps Amy Healy has been busy updating her slides warning the industry about the Opt-Out Movement?
