This guy was making a racket down in the gorge along W River Rd near 27th St E. He’s been gorging on that branch for some time now from the look of it.
Consistently against torture.

Looks like you may have caught a Hairy Woodpecker in action. It appears to be a female.
Or is it a female Downy?
It looks like it has a longer beak, which is why I thought it was Hairy and not Downy.
Good call, I was trying to judge by the plummage, if only we had a better shot of his head…Deets? 😉
