#Wilfare to Accomodate the Modern Minnesota Vikings Fan

@MayorRTRybak wants to contribute to the already debilitating problem of #Viking fan obesity. Voters should reject his priorities. #wilfare

Looking through the specs of Vikings stadium plans, it looks like some serious efforts are being made to accomodate the modern Minnesota Vikings fan.

Try finishing each spec below with “. . . to accomodate the modern Minnesota Vikings fan.” to see how this works.

Concourses will be wider . . .

Additional bathrooms will be added . . .

Wider seats will be used . . .

Additional parking closer to the stadium will be added . . .

Additional concessions will be added . . .

Food trucks will be available . . .

It sounds like we’re around a billion dollars to accommodate a sedentary lifestyle that could hurt Minneapolis’ chances of winning Fittest Cities honors. In fact, we’ve already slipped from #1 to #2 on MapMyFitness’ charts and we haven’t even chosen an architect yet.

  1. It sounds like we’re around a billion dollars to accommodate a sedentary lifestyle that could hurt Minneapolis’ chances of winning Fittest Cities honors.======= Is there cash prizes for this, or just Elitist bragging rights? If Minneapolis gets it, set it in the stack with the other meaningless designations. Sorry, MapMyFitness, if we don’t live up to your standards.

  2. I could do a whole essay (sermon) on how the quest for Health Uber Alles takes on religious overtones, but let’s save that for another Sunday. To answer your question, if MapMyFitness used health to cast thinly-veiled aspersions and broad stereotypes on football fans, I’d have to say the answer in that case is Yes. But without perusing the website, I don’t think they’d do that, nor do I think that the features you mention would affect their subjective decision on the overall health and fitness of Minneapolitans. If it is, that’s lame. Maybe you think that narrow seats and concourses and longer walks are a good use of construction funds, public and private. You may get your wish on the food trucks. If Los Angeles is still a trendsetter city, there’s indications there that that fad may have peaked. Whatsamatter, Ed? Did you pick a Sunday when Vikings fans are enjoying one of the biggest upsets in recent years to make public your lingering sour grapes? Get mad and get over it.

  3. @Rat, my opinions on Wilfare and personal self esteem don’t fluctuate based on the weekly performance of an NFL team.

I believe MapMyFitness bases their ratings on the popularity of their site.
