What Your MGM Liquor Warehouse Purchases Purchased

This amazing house on Gray’s Bay in Wayzata (16500 Grays Bay Blvd) is proof that Twin Cities residents like to drink. Why? Because the CEO of MGM Liquor owns it. It’s currently on the market for $2,895,000. 500 feet of Lake Minnetonka lakeshore, a pool, party room, and an incredible wine cellar (of course). Five bedrooms so your friends can crash, and 6 baths in case they have to break the seal. Check out the photo tour. Impressive.
Not all of MGM’s earnings have gone into that home. Some have found their way into the campaign coffers of St. Paul City Council Member, Lee Helgen (PDF), who represents Ward 5 where one of MGM’s stores (and Corporate Headquarters) at Lexington & Larpenteur resides.
Roger Bergerson wrote for the Park Bugle (syndicated by the Daily Planet) about MGM’s acquisition of homes to the South of the liquor store on California Avenue. An attempt to encroach onto a residential block proceeds.
I can’t help with the mortgage, but I’ll gladly make a contribution to the wine cellar should one if you pick up this place.

Wow, that’s hideous. If you were going to spend $2.8 million, at least buy something with a little taste.
A faux- french country-home meets log cabin with gaudy leather sofas is not tasteful.

They picked up the property in 1992 for $705,000.

funny how the agent can’t upload more photos to HIS personal website but instead opts for the lazy 10 photos used on the MLS listing.

Wow the market sure is down.
Seems cheap for a house on the lake with a pool and a cabana.
Must be pretty shallow cause I’d expect a little more substantial covered boat slip. I sure as hell wouldn’t buy that house and not have a 32-36 footer for booze cruises.

What I think would really spice up this property is MORE BEIGE. Blechhh.
