Run Minneapolis: Project Update
Back in February, I decided to run every street in the City of Minneapolis. I purchased a map of the city, which looked like this at the time:

I started highlighting where I’d ran, starting this this 4-ish miler at the North end of North Minneapolis:

As of now, the map looks like this:

Optimistically, I thought I might be able to run the entire city in 2009. However, I’ve fallen far short of that goal for a variety of reasons. I lost at least 2 months to travel, one month recovering from an ankle sprain, and a least a month to laziness.
On the plus side, I’ve discovered some really cool Minneapolis neighborhoods, lost 10 pounds, and enjoyed blogging about what I’ve run past to date. I’ve also increased my average running distance as I’ve gotten into better shape.
Barring injury or something unforeseen, I’m confident that I’ll be able to finish this project in 2010. I know it would be easier with some help from you, so if you’re up for a run anywhere in the city that I haven’t hit yet, send me an email or give me a ring. I’ve already run with quite a few of you during this project, and always appreciate the company.

I just came across your website recently, and noticed your posts on this project. Great idea! Good luck for completing it.

I am glad you are doing this project. I read about a woman who walked every street in Mpls a few years ago, and think it is a fun, civic way to know the city.

I’m not a good runner but I do enjoy it and it looks like you haven’t highlighted my street yet (grand street in NE minneapolis). There is a crazy house dedicated to disney caracters about 3/4 a mile away from my house. Feel free to email me if you’re headed to the area.

and by not a good runner i mean i run around a 6 mph pace. I can usually hold my own for about 3 miles (but did run 10 in October so I can’t be that out of shape… can i?)

I had a New Years Resolution to go to a different church every sunday for a year, but your idea tops it. Super cool. 2L2Q.

Nice! I see that you ran past my house despite it being a dead-end (Coniaris Way, on the east short of Lake Calhoun off Irving Ave.).

@Ryan, this town has too many dead ends. Here’s the run report that included your block.
