I would say Detroit, too. That island looks like the island off of downtown D-town. Not sure Chicago has anything like that. If it is Detroit, I’m just glad to see they can still pay to keep the lights on there.
I love matching aerial photos with Google Maps. The city is Chicago. Humboldt Park is just about in the center of the top photo. It’s where the road heading south wiggles a little.
Peter, you and the rest of the people who guessed Chicago are correct. I took those shots after take-off from Chicago O’Hare heading East. The 2nd one is of the coast line with downtown just a little too cloudy to make out. The curve near the bottom of that photo is near Lincoln Park.
