I kind of dig the loose fold on this one. It’s different from what I normally encounter at Marriott Hotels where the norm – as far as I can tell – is to use gold foil stickers to hold down a tightly creased fold.
Or, maybe someone in housekeeping got overly exuberant on New Year’s Eve and threw their stock of stickers out the window when the ball dropped? Hmm.

The Marriott I stayed at in San Francisco had a similar fold and no gold sticker. They also did some fancy folding with the foot towel draped on the bathtub.
