Minneapolis / St Paul Business Journal Keeps it National

The Minneapolis / St Paul Business Journal should consider writing stories with a Minneapolis / St Paul focus. For example:

G&K Services cutting 200 jobs

Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal - by Sam Black Staff Writer

G&K Services Inc. will close three processing plants and two branch locations and warned investors that its fiscal 2009 first-quarter results will miss guidance targets.

The closings will cut about 200 jobs from the uniform-rental company, or about 2 percent of its total workforce of 10,000. Shayn Carlson, director of investor relations for G&K, said one of the plants was in Minnesota. Cuts were also planned at G&K’s (NASDAQ:GKSR) U.S. headquarters in Minnetonka and its Canadian headquarters in Toronto. About 30 of the jobs affected are in Minnesota.

30 jobs in Minnesota seems is the key figure for a story written by the Minneapolis / St Paul Business Journal. Sure, mention that there were 200 cuts total, but get local faster, yo.

And yes, this applies to rewritten press releases.
