Here’s a good example of why we need more open government data, as Barack Obama has proposed doing, but McCain doesn’t understand. If the government puts out real data, real people will take that data and turn it into visuals that make sense:

Clearly, the above graph does more to explain the potential future impact of offshore drilling than campaign rhetoric on how it’s the answer to all of out energy problems.
