Rumor has it that Maxwell’s is reopening this Thursday, September 11th, after a fire put them out of commission this past February.
Here is the official word from Maxwell’s website:

The staff at Maxwell’s would like to thank everyone who has helped and been affected by the unfortunate fire in February at Maxwell’s American Pub. Although we know that many patrons have had to alter their routines due to Maxwell’s being unable to serve your needs, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We are glad to say that we are in the process of rebuilding a better Maxwell’s, yet leaving the same “at home” atmosphere that you have grown to love. The plans include updated restrooms, new backbar and a few minor redecorating items (paint, ceiling tiles…etc). We intend on maintaining the same quality of service and product you expect when you walk through our doors.
So……when can you expect to have an ice cold, adult beverage at Maxwell’s? We’re happy to announce, sometime in mid-September, we expect to re-open!!!
Updated restrooms? Yeah, they did need a little work but they didn’t stop this guy from melting some ice.
I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time and sent the crew at Maxwell’s a postcard earlier this week from the “Home of the Original” Buffalo Wing, the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY, figuring it may have a chance of arriving on their re-opening day.
Welcome back, Maxwell’s. You’ve been missed.

My husband just talked to someone at Maxwell’s (they finally updated their phone number on the website - it was out of service before) and he said they are officially opening on Saturday morning.
