It turns out that douchebags are gaining ground in America. Can anything stop them at this point? The graph above comes from a new service by Google called Insights for Search where you can look up the popularity of search terms.

You can break down the data by region, such at this state by state look at douchebaggery:

It should come as no surprise that douchebags are most popular on the coasts, but Illinois has a very strong showing.

Breaking things down by city, we find that Chicago is actually the top douchebag city in America:

Don’t shoot the messenger, people. Just reporting the facts here. The top-6 are:

1. Chicago
2. Los Angeles
3. New York
4. San Francisco
5. Washington
6. Atlanta

What’s causing this rise in douchebag popularity? A look at the fast moving douchebag related terms sheds some light on the issue. It turns out that New Jersey Douchebags, together with MySpace and the popularity of douchebag tribute sites are responsible:

Speaking of Douchebags, Doodledee noticed* that Andrew Zimmern wrote about the Jucy Lucy Wikipedia entry controversy that first broke here on The Deets. That alone isn’t douchey, but doing so without citing his source for the story is a real douchebag move.

* To be clear, the douchebag in this sentence is NOT Doodledee.
