What Shall I Be? The Board Game

What Shall I Be?

This board game, The Exciting Career Game for Boys, helps boys decide what they shall be when they grow up. As far as I could tell from the game’s pieces – mind you, I was more focused on my IPA at the time – was that boys will grow up to be either doctors, professional athletes, engineers, or astronauts.

As far as I could tell, the two deciding factors were whether you were good at math or athletic. Put both those together and you could be an astronaut. But neither of them together and you’d have to settle for being a doctor, I think.

The football player in the middle looks like Rex Kern, the Ohio State quarterback from 1968 to 1970 who wore #10. This board game came out in 1968, according to this website:

It looks like Kern is evading a UCLA player, but Rex Kern never played against UCLA.
