Felch St, Holland, MI

I can’t believe there is a street in Holland, Michigan called Felch Street. If you don’t know, you probably don’t want to. You’ve been warned.

The thing that concerns me most is that you knew what “Felch” meant when you took the picture…

I think I heard about it in a Dan Savage column during the discussion of Santorum. It’s tough to forget. Again, you’ve been warned.

Yeah I was going to say what Kirk said. I did not need to start my day our learnig what felch means. But even worse, I did not need to start my day out learning the The Deets already knew what felch means.

    Was it a “dirt road”?

Kirk and Mike, it sounds like you’re externalizing your disgust rather than placing the blame with your own curiosity, where it belongs.

So, what you are saying is “You’ve been warned” really means “You’ve been warned”…do I have that right? By Thursday, I’m a little slowwww…but still curious, I read the definition too and went ‘damn and I was warned too’! But, seriously, well that was serious too, honestly, I mis-read it first time and read ‘flech’ and so I was off pondering the classic movie and wondering how Chevy Chase ever got to Holland MI, and then how you ever got to Holland MI…so it was all lost in my internal party shuffle. :)

I’m sure the street was named years before the slang “felch” entered the lexicon. Know what I mean? My question would be why any sexual act would be named after a street in Holland, MI? ;)

Felch is also the name of a town in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula - just a few miles from my grandparents’ house. I snicker every time I see the mileage sign: “Felch 10″. The town and its township were named for Alpheus Felch, an early governor of Michigan. No word on whether he had anything to do with the better-known practice.

Actually, I was rather taken aback when I was a law student at Cooley Law school and had to sit through a study group in the “Felch Room”. Apparently, a benefactor of the school was either a felcher, or from the Felch family. I gave the true definition as an example of “obscene” speech in my first amendment class. The next week when we met, there was a pall of silence, since a few students and the instructor went online and learned about the ACT of felching. That was the highlight of my career as a law student in Lansing Mich.! :) Felch on dude!
