Thanks for sharing your perspective, POW. Were you a POW, or are you using a label that doesn't really apply to your military history?

Kosovo seems to have worked out well. Few lives lost. Relatively cheap. Peace is cheaper than war.

If you're suggesting that not serving overseas doesn't make someone qualified to have an opinion about the use of US troops, I wonder how you can support someone like George W Bush.

I think you should take a look at how George, Condi, Dick, and Donald tied Iraq to 9/11. Combine that with how FOX covered the story. Why do so many people on the right think there is a connection if it wasn't for people in their party and their party's preferred media framing of Iraq to 9/11?

Dean Barkley said in last night's Minnesota state Senate debate that the Pentagon may have lied to him when he was briefed on threats as a Senator.

Are you honestly suggesting that the only alternative to invading was to lift sanctions and allow Hussein to remain in power? I hope you have the maturity to realize that there were other options than the straw man you've set up.

Soldiers take an oath to obey the orders of the president. They fight in all wars they are ordered to fight, not just the one they "signed up for" or the ones with which they agreed politically. But you've never been a soldier, so you wouldn't know that, would you? Oh, but you know some soldiers...just like Obama.

I served in Clinton's "war of choice" in Kosovo. Soldiers serve where they are told to serve, and our President and Congress said to go to Iraq.

The Iraq War had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks and no one ever said it did. After 9/11, we declared war on terrorism everywhere in the world it reared its ugly head. Iraq, Iran, and North Korea had been on the State Department list of State Sponsors of Terrorism throughout the Clinton Administration. In 1998, Clinton bombed Iraq and signed the Iraq Liberation Act. At no time before January 20, 2001 did Clinton declare Iraq WMD-free. He claimed up until a year after the Iraq War began that he still believed they had WMD.

No one was "misled"; Congress voted with every scrap of information from the CIA available to them in classified chambers. The fact of the matter is that most of the Democrats didn't even bother to read the information. They were caught in a political vice, and they just waited for the opportunity to blame Bush for their political cowardice. Those who voted against the war were no better informed.

BTW, the Iraq War has the lowest rate of soldiers killed per day of combat and per soldier-served than any war in US history.

While the Iraq War has cost us fewer than 2.3 soldiers per day, World War I cost us 279 soldiers per day.

I guess you ran out of peeps for the millions of people Saddam Hussein murdered over his 40 year reign. How many more peeps would we need if sanctions had been lifted and he remained in power?

Fantastic post. It's amazing how a visualization of what 4000 looks like makes things so much more real.

Reminds me a bit of the work of Chris Jordan.
